Respect.

"I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me...All I ask is that you respect me as a human being." - Jackie Robinson.

Respect has been fought for, martyred for, and discussed for thousands of years. Christ taught it. Lincoln taught it.  Heck, Aretha Franklin taught it and owned it. Respect is something everyone wants, and few master. Respect yields trust, and trust yields influence. Influence is also something we all yearn for as human beings; to make an impact on something, someone.

Lesson of the Day

Truth will never be held back. All things will be made known eventually. An honest man is a man who enters the kingdom, so let us all be honest today.

Act now so that those who "Speak" your death will do so proudly.

Courage

The biggest decision in my life thus far is coming dauntingly fast. The question now is do I have the courage to pick the road less traveled? Do I chase the dream, or settle for something that's just good? Do I want to be happy and busy, or content and free? When I ask myself these questions the answer seems obvious... Go for gold, but doubt always follows me where I go. Help me someone, and make the decision for me :)

Push

Everyday we must push to be the best we can be; to overcome all of the statistics to prove us wrong. In order to be someone different, you must do things different than anyone else. Better than anyone, including yourself, could ever believe. Never let others' opinions (or your own for that matter) undermine your capabilities. You are what you can see. The only potential that you can obtain is the one that is distant.

Now

Now is the time to change.
Now is the time to right wrongs.
Now is the time to become, not to destroy.
Now is the time to be serious.
Now is the time to be a man.
Now is the time to face the facts, and then live up to them.
Now is the time to be weak, and be made strong.
Now is the time to find a path.
Now is the time to be an example.
Now is the time to follow an example.
Now is the time to learn.
Now is the time to teach.
Now is the time to light up the darkness.
Now is the time to stick to your guns.
Now is the time to appreciate.
Now is the time to be lost in order to be found.
Now is the time to give.
Now is the time to crawl, then walk.
Now is the time to listen.
Now is the time to see.
Now is the time to feel.
Now is the time to speak out.
Now is the time to shed a tear.
Now is the time to shout for joy.
Now is the time to improve.
Now is the time to try.
NOW is the time to DO.

Thank you Emily Warren.

Today.

Just a little introspective thinking. I find it's therapeutic for me. I've been asking myself questions lately. How does one go about deciding what to do for the rest of one's life? Should you chase your dreams, or be a realist and accept the statistics? It can be such a difficult decision, as this choice will determine much of your happiness in life. But I think that if you truly want to be happy in life, you must do that which makes you happy! Make sense?

Abraham Lincoln had an idea of this concept I think. "Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing," he said. I will resolve today to succeed. I will resolve today to be confident and not only chase my dreams, but catch them as well. I resolve today to exceed my own expectations for myself and reach to new heights.

Lyrics

You know I used to be exciting?
The life of the party they say.
I didn't have any real friends,
but who needs them anyway,
right?

I was wrong, oh I was wrong.

Oh no, don't go.
If you stay, I'll change.
I didn't mean it.
(Baby give me one more try)
I swear I mean it.
(This can't be goodbye)

Cross my heart,
and hope to die.

You know I used to be stupid?
I didn't know anything.
But then you took me to school.
And I knew you didn't want just another summer fling right?

I know you're right,
I know you're always right.
As much as I wont accept it
I know you're right.

Oh no, don't go.
If you stay, I'll change.
I didn't mean it.
(Baby give me one more try)
I swear I mean it.
(This can't be goodbye)
Cross my heart,
and hope to die.

Lyrics

Just a little something I wrote about my feelings right now.

Come Home (War)

I'm a lover,
I've a broken disease
I'm just another
sad case with a tendency for war.

Drive me home,
take me far away
where I can hide
from those that love me
and those that don't.

And I'm a soldier,
I've been trained to fight,
trained to hold on.
What do I fight for?

Drive me home,
take me far away
where I can breathe
and you can say

"Come home,
come home or this is war."
Say "come home,
come home or this is war."

I'm just a lover,
I've a broken disease.
